Film265 delivers a comprehensive approach to support European small and medium VoD services with the most innovative technology in video delivery.
It aims at providing them with the technological edge needed to compete in the international market of film distribution on the Internet.
The core of Film265 is:
The consortium consists of one university: TU Berlin (Germany), and three SMES: Reelport (France/Germany), Cinando (France) and LevelK (Denmark). TU Berlin (AES group) has extensive experience on efficient implementations of video codecs, Reelport is a VoD provider for film festivals and other film-related projects.
Cinando handles the market of the Cannes FIlm Festival, and LevelK is a Danish film distributor using VoD technologies. TU Berlin will provide the new video codec; Reelport its existing PicurePipe solution cloud encoding solution, and the new quality analysis tool; and Cinando and LevelK will integrate the new technologies into their VoD solutions, and will provide feedback about the efficiency and quality obtained by using the new technologies.

Technische UniversitÃ¤t Berlin (TU Berlin) is one of the largest and most prestigious research and education institutions in Germany. Today the university is one of the largest universities in Germany and Europe with more than 30000 students in 7 schools. TU Berlin/Sin Digital at IBC 2015 in Amsterdam
Spin Digital presents at IBC Amsterdam the latest version of its very compact 8K HEVC/H.265 decoder for the next generation of Ultra High Definition applications. The demonstration will take place at RAI Amsterdam at Hall 1, Stand 1.F13. Spin Digitalâs optimized 8K HEVC/H.265 decoder achieves 8K real-time with 60 frames per second and extended color formats (4:4:4, 10-bit) using a commodity workstation. Envisioned applications include immersive video for large screens and next generation virtual reality devices.

TU Berlin/Spin Digital at IFA 2015 in Berlin
Spin Digital will demonstrate at IFA Berlin its real-time HEVC/H.265 decoder for 4K (UHD-1 Phase 2) supporting 60 frames per second, high dynamic range, and extended color formats (4:4:4 and 10-bit). Film265 Face-to-Face Meeting in Copenhagen
On July 3rd 2015 members of the Film265 consortium met in Copenhagen at LevelK headquarters to discuss the advances of the project. Participants from all consortium partners (TU Berlin, Reelport, MarchÃ© du Film - Cinando, and LevelK) were present. Matthias Wien, researcher at RTWH Achen, also joined the group as part of the advisory board.

TU Berlin and reelport presented Film265 at the Connect Concertation Meeting.
The Film265 project was presented by Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa (TU Berlin) and Tilman Scheel (reelport) at the Connect Concertation Meeting, which was organized by the Creativity Unit of the DG Connect directorate of the European Commission. This meeting took place at Luxemburg on 12th May and its main objective was to bring together the H2020 Creativity projects funded by the Creativity Unit, in order to present the projects as well as to exchange experiences and best practices.

Film265 at Cannes Film Festival 2015
Members from the Film265 consortium participated in the Cannes Film Festival 2015 edition at the French Riviera city from May 13th to May 24th. Mr Jerome Paillard, executive director of the MarchÃ© du Film, Tilman Scheel CEO of reelport, and Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa from TU Berlin / Spin Digital were present at the festival.
Film265 members participated in different events organized by the festival about new media technologies, including the presentations at the NEXT Pavilion. Meetings were held to discuss the participation of the Film265 project in the 2016 edition of the festival, in which it is expected to make a launch of the new technologies for video delivery that are being developed in Film265.7653089868
